eduroam
The eduroam network is NC State's preferred network for students, staff, and faculty. It provides secure and encrypted access to the internet and our campus resources.
What is eduroam?
NC State has partnered with eduroam, an international group of universities and research institutions, to provide globally portable wireless service to our students, staff, and faculty members. From the eduroam website:
Whether you’re moving across campus or spending time studying or working at another research and education institution, eduroam gives you seamless internet connectivity.
More than 10,000 eduroam hotspots are available at universities, research centres, academies, many schools, and other research and education institutions in more than 100 territories around the world. As eduroam grows, more and more hotspots are appearing in additional places such as libraries, museums and public spaces such as railway stations and coffee shops.
Wherever you see ‘eduroam’ appear in your list of Wi-Fi networks, you can get online.
If you’re interested in learning more about the technical details of how the system works, you can read “What is eduroam and how does it work?” on eduroam’s website
How do I connect?
Once per year, you’ll need to enroll your device – whether a laptop, desktop, or mobile phone – with eduroam. To do so, you must download NC State’s configuration tool. If you run into any trouble, you can get help from campus.
You must enroll your devices every five years with NC State. During that time, your device will automatically connect to any eduroam-supported network you come across. You’ll receive an email when it’s time to go through the enrollment process again.
For specific instructions for your device, please read the help article for it:
